However, centre-back Daniel Agger returns to the squad after regaining fitness while captain Steven Gerrard has reported no after-effects from Tuesday night when he made his comeback after a hamstring problem.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle could be tempted to name an unchanged side.
On-loan winger Vladimir Weiss may have to settle for a place on the bench while another new recruit Stuart Holden has a slight thigh strain.
Mark Davies remains absent with an ankle injury as Bolton look to build on the win against Burnley.

Birmingham vs Tottenham
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will give loan signing Eidur Gudjohnsen a "week or so" to settle in at White Hart Lane so he will not feature in the match at Birmingham.
Aaron Lennon is still out with a hernia problem which the club hope to cure with physio treatment while Roman Pavlyuchenko will be out for at least a week with a groin strain.
Full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto, meanwhile, has been cleared by a specialist to start rehabilitation on the hip problem which has kept him out since early January. With five matches in a fortnight Redknapp will decideon Saturday whether to risk Ledley King, who played against Fulham on Tuesday.
Birmingham have new £3million midfielder Craig Gardner available for the first time.
Gardner, who joined Birmingham on a four-and-a-half year deal from Aston Villa earlier this week, will be the only addition to the squad from Wednesday's 3-0 defeat at Chelsea.
Kevin Phillips is still missing with a groin problem but fellow forward Cameron Jerome is fit having suffered no reaction to his ankle injury after making his comeback against Chelsea.

Fulham vs Aston Villa
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has named an unchanged squad for the Premier League clash at Fulham.
O'Neill is forced to keep faith with the players on duty in the goalless draw with Arsenal in midweek because of continuing injury problems.
Left-back Stephen Warnock and striker John Carew are still ruled out through shin and knee injuries respectively, while midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker will be out for up to three months with a stress fracture to his ankle.
James Milner and Gabriel Agbonlahor are expected to be fit despite picking up knocks against the Gunners.

Zamora (collarbone) and Davies (foot) played some part in the 2-0 defeat by Tottenham and could start at Craven Cottage.

Hull City vs Wolverhampton
Wolves newcomer Geoffrey Mujangi Bia is expected to shake off a tight hamstring in time for the Barclays Premier League clash at Hull.
The on-loan Charleroi wide player was unable to train on Thursday, but Wolves manager Mick McCarthy is confident he will be fit for the relegation battle.
Defender George Elokobi is also set to be in contention after suffering a bout of illness earlier in the week while striker Stefan Maierhofer has recovered from his hernia operation.
But Michael Kightly and Dave Edwards have been forced to delay their comeback from respective ankle injuries for a further fortnight.
McCarthy has to decide whether to recall striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who was not even amongst the substitutes for the goalless midweek draw with Liverpool, or persevere with a 4-5-1 formation.
Hull talisman Jimmy Bullard will not return, but Amr Zaki is set for his Tigers debut.
Midfielder Bullard, out for almost two months with a knee injury, had hoped to feature before the end of January but is not quite ready and will not be risked.
Former Wigan striker Zaki, having moved to the KC Stadium on loan until the end of the season, is likely to be on the bench for the crucial Barclays Premier League relegation encounter.
Defender Kamil Zayatte (ankle) is doubtful having not trained this week, while Geovanni (knee) and Kamel Ghilas (thigh) have niggly injuries.

Midfielder Vince Grella is back in training following a thigh strain but is unlikely to be included in the squad.
West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola welcomes back midfielder Scott Parker and left-back Herita Ilunga.
Both players have recovered from hamstring injuries and should return to the starting line-up for the Hammers.

Fellow goalkeeper Richard Kingson is still at the African Nations Cup with Ghana, but otherwise Roberto Martinez has a full squad to choose from.
Everton could be without midfielder Mikel Arteta.
The Spanish star has picked up a groin strain in training, having only just returned from almost a year out with knee damage. He has made two appearances as a substitute since his comeback.

Fabregas wants to beat Red Devils more than anybody else...

Cesc Fabregas has raised the temperature ahead of Arsenal's clash with Manchester United by saying he wants to beat the Red Devils more than anyone else.

Second placed United travel to the Emirates on Sunday for the pick of this weekend's Barclays Premier League games just one point ahead of Arsene Wenger's men.
Whilst a win for the Gunners - combined with a Chelsea slip at Burnley - would see Arsenal go back to the top of England's top-flight, Fabregas believes the game is far more than just another chance to win three points.
"I want to beat Man United more than anyone else," the Spain international revealed in his new column for The Sun.
"Manchester United surpasses all the other matches for me
"As a player it is the one game I really look forward to playing in every season.
"Chelsea is really good, Liverpool too and Tottenham is special, particularly for the fans who get really excited.
"But if you have to pick one game from 38 then playing against Man United is the game.
"For me it is definitely the most special game to play in the Premier League."
Fabregas has also been delighted to prove wrong the critics, who wrote off Arsenal's title chances after they were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea in November.
"They had already written us off, even before the season had started," he said.
"But we didn't care. We knew we had to react.
"We haven't lost in the league since, so it has been a very positive reaction."
